Shopper Questions Q. How often do you have these sales? A. We two - three sales per year. Q. Are the sales located indoors? A. Yes. Sales are located in air-conditioned/heated buildings. Q. Are there any parking fees or entrance fees? A. No parking fees. Certain sales may charge a minimal admission. Check each website calendar for information. Q. What kinds of payment do you accept? A. We accept Cash, Mastercard, Visa and Discover with proper ID. Consignor Questions Q. Who can consign their items and become a seller? A. Anyone can consign their children's and maternity items with Just Between Friends.
Q. Is there a limit on the number of items I can consign? A. At this time we have no limit on the number of items you can consign. We recommend bringing more seasonal appropriate items, however, since we live in Florida we aren't extra strict at this time.
Q. What does the $3.00 limit mean? A. We ask that you pair clothing items up (such as matching top and shorts or multiple tops, etc.) to be able to price your items at $3.00 or more. If you cannot do this, we will still accept clothing items priced at less than $3.00. This only applies to clothing items.
Q. What if I have items already tagged from a previous sale that are less than $3.00? A. If you have items tagged from a previous sale, you do not have to re-price them. We definitely don't want you to have to re-tag your items! Q. Do consignors get to shop before the public? What about guests? A. Yes, consignors get to shop before the public (check our calendar for times). Consignors receive a presale pass for themselves and a guest. Your guest may shop before the public on the same day (but not as early as our consignors). Both must have presale passes that you will pick up when you drop off your items. If you are a consignor and want to wait to shop with your guest, you are more than welcome to do that. Q. Are children allowed at the presale? A. Children under 12 years old are not allowed at presales. Nursing infants are allowed any time. Children 12 years old or older may be considered a consignor's guest with a presale pass. We also have a special "Family Presale" time so consignors can shop with their children before we open to the public. You will receive your presale passes when you check-in at drop-off.
Q. Are nursing infants excluded from the "No Children at Presales" rule? A. Nursing infants (non-walking) are allowed at presales. We still strongly urge you to find someone to watch your precious child as your shopping experience will greatly improve without the added responsibility.
Q. What percentage of the sales do I receive? A. Consignors receive 65% of their sales less a $10 consignor fee (deducted from your check). Volunteers earn 70%. Q. Who does the pricing? A. You set your own price and you get to decide if it is discounted on our half-price day. Q. What percentage of my items can I expect to sell? A. Most sellers sell approximately 80% of their items in sizes 2-10. For sizes under 24 months the percentage of sales drops due to the sheer volume of merchandise brought in by consignor's to sell, and the fact that, people tend to receive infant clothing as gifts, hand me downs etc , therefore they do not have a need to buy these items. The older sizes (12-16 and up) also will sell a lower percentage as children become pickier as they near the teen and pre-teen years. Q. How do I sign up to consign? A. Just click on our "i want to consign" button and fill out the form. You will receive an email confirmation within moments.
Q. Can I hand-write my tags? A. We are unable to accommodate consignors with hand-written tags. With our online bar-coding system (www.myjbftags.com) it is so easy to enter your tags and print them off, then be able to track your sales.
Q. How long should I give myself to drop off my items? A. We have self check-in and it typically takes about an hour to drop off your items. Your items will be inspected and then you place them in the designated areas around the sales floor. It is helpful to bring a wagon to drop off your items. We do have rolling racks available, however, they may be in use when you need them.
Q. When do I drop off my items? A. Please check our online calendar for the drop-off time. Q. When do I pick up my unsold items? A. Please check our online calendar for the pick-up time. Please remember we do not allow early admission to pick-up. We also do check for proper identification. All items not picked up at that time will automatically be donated to The Mustard Seed of Central Florida.
Q. What if I can't make the pick up time work for my schedule? A. You are welcome to have a friend pick up your items for you. You will need to send a note or let us know via email that someone else will be picking up your items. Be sure to write it on your waiver. Please ensure that the person you have designated to pick up your items brings proper identifcation. Any items not picked up will automatically be donated to The Mustard Seed of Central Florida. Q. Do I have to sort through the racks to find my unsold clothing items? A. No, when you pick up your unsold items, all of your hanging garments and other items will already be sorted by Consignor# for easy pick up. Q. How long does it take to receive my check? A. Your check will be mailed to you within fourteen days of the end of the sale. (if not sooner!) Q. Will I know what items have sold? A. By using our online tagging system to prepare your tags it will give you a close idea of what has sold, when and for how much. Online tagging is quick and easy! Q. What type of hangers do I need to use? A. We accept any type of hangers (wire, plastic tube, plastic, etc.). We recommend trying to use smaller hangers for size 4 and under if possible. This shows your clothing the best!
Q. If I consign my items, do I have to stay during the sale? A. No. Consignors drop off their items and put them out on the selling floor during the designated drop-off times and come back during the designated times to pick up their unsold items. If you are able to volunteer and help out at the sale you can earn an extra 5% on your sold items. Q. What items are you taking? A. We accept anything related to babies, children or maternity. The clothing must be in great condition and will be inspected during check-in. Clothing cannot have any rips, tears, stains, missing buttons, or be overly worn. Other great items are toys, books, videos, strollers, baby equipment, nursery items, large play equipment, bedding, cribs, changing tables, etc. We also offer "Mommy Mart" and a "Doo-Dads" areas. Check our links for details. Go to this site http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prerel.html to see if any of the items that you are bringing to sell have been recalled. Be a responsible seller! You will be shocked to see the large list of recalled children's items. Q. What about shoes? A. Yes, Dress shoes and Like-new shoes only. Please bring only your best shoes. Shoes will be inspected separately and we are VERY PICKY. You are not limited to a certain amount of shoes per consignor, but we will be picky. These items are easily worn out and will not sell if they are worn. Please don't spend your time tagging shoes that look worn or are smelly. Q. What about stuffed animals? A. We only accept name brand or battery operated stuffed animals (lights, sound, movement), or Disney or Beanie Babies in new or like new condition. We have seen a decrease in the sale of stuffed animals, and so we must limit them. Q. What are Mommy Mart and Doo-Dads? A. Mommy Mart is a way for you to sell your wooden, everyday furniture that a starting young family could use. It also includes items that our moms can use in everyday life as well as a re-gifting center. Check out our Mommy Mart page to see what all we accept in Mommy Mart. Doo-Dads is a place for boys and their dads to find those special 'guy' items especially for camping, fishing, etc. Check out the Doo-Dads page for more details. Volunteer Questions Q. Can anyone sign up as a volunteer and attend the volunteer presales? A. Yes, anyone may sign up to volunteer on a first come/first serve basis. You do not have to be a consignor to volunteer. The Volunteer schedule is available to view on our website. Q. Can I bring a guest to the volunteer presale? A. Volunteers may not bring guests unless the guest completes their applicable volunteer times. Each presale pass is good for one person to enter the presale. Please no children at our presales. Q. How long are the shifts? A. Shifts are typically 4 hour shifts. We have two presale times – one for volunteers who work 4 hours and the earliest one for our volunteers who work 8 hours. You can work different shifts to earn your passes. Some positions earn extra hours so check our volunteer schedule online to get the shift(s) you want! Check out the available times on our volunteer page. A few shifts also waive the $10.00 consignor fee. Q. Do you provide childcare for volunteers? A. No, we do not offer childcare at this time.
Q. I'm pregnant or have a medical condition. Is it OK for me to be a volunteer? A. If you are pregnant or have a medical condition, you will want to volunteer when the workload is less. We have several shifts available with jobs that can be done sitting down. If you need these positions, please email us with your request after registering and we will try to accommodate your request. We also note this in the description of our shifts.
