shelly rogersLocation: Waco, Texas Franchise Owner Since: 2004 Family Info - My husband Doug and I have 3 very active children. Our daughter Delaney is 9 years old and our sons Dalton and Colby are 6 years old and 18 months. My partner Kathy is also my mother - in - law. The great thing about our partnership, other than all the business aspects, is that we share the same children! Grandma does like to spoil them! Experience - I graduated from the University of Tulsa with a degree in deaf education. I have been the director of a successful gymnastics school for the last 15 years. Managing and marketing a gymnastics school has been excellent preparation for Just Between Friends. From a business stand point, they are very similiar and they both involve my biggest joy... kids!
Why did you become a JBF owner? I had been a shopper and consignor at the Tulsa sale since my children were babies. I had always thought it was a wonderful concept and a win-win for everyone. My mother-in-law lives in Waco, Texas and was looking for a small business to get off the ground. I thought it was a perfect fit for our needs and our personalities. What are your goals for your sale? I would like Just Between Friends to become a household name for families with children. I want it to become a regular event for them and something they plan for. I would also like the sale to become self-sufficient financially. There are so many things I would like to expand into such as advertising and promotions. Where would you like to be in 1 year? I would like to hit 200 consignors. I would also like to have at least 50 repeat consignors. I think consistent consignors adds to the quality of your sale. 5 years? Eventually, I would like for the sale to provide an income for my family. With three children, it is becomming harder and harder to work full time outside of the home. What are your interests and hobbies? I have been a full time gymnastics instructor my entire adult life, and a gymnast for most of the rest. That was my first passion. Now, like most of us, my kids are my passion. Most of my interests revolve around them. With 3 kids , a full time gymnastics school to run, and JBF, I don't have much time for hobbies. Maybe that should be one of my goals for 5 years!
