Hi, I’m Marisa! 👋

I’m the JBF Des Moines owner and a mom of 3 who knows firsthand how quickly kids grow through clothes, toys, books, and gear. After shopping and selling at JBF for years, I fell in love with the mission of helping families save money, make money, and support one another in the process.

I’ve been part of the JBF community for more than 15 years and truly believe there’s something special about families helping families. My goal is to create an organized, welcoming, and fun shopping experience where parents can feel good about stretching their budgets while finding great-quality items for their kids.

When I’m not preparing for a sale, you’ll usually find me cheering on my kids, working on one of my businesses, or spending time outdoors with my family and dogs. I’m so grateful to serve this community and can’t wait to welcome you to our next sale! 💕

Mary’s Helping Hands is a local nonprofit serving families across the Des Moines metro by providing basic necessities for children in their first years of life. With the help of generous donors, we distribute items such as baby clothing (newborn–2T), diapers, nursing supplies, blankets, toys, and books to support some of the most vulnerable families in our community.

Is it free to get in and open to the public?

Yes, we are open to the public. General admission is $3 on our public sale days, but you can get a free ticket online.

How can I shop early?

The Presale gives shoppers the opportunity to shop before we open to the public. Free presale tickets are given to our sellers, team members, expecting parents, and hometown heroes (teachers, first responders, adoptive/foster & military families). If you work or sell with us, you get to bring a guest with you to the presale!

Can I shop early even if i’m not one of those people mentioned above?

Yes! We have Platinum, Gold, and Prime Time tickets so that you can shop before we open to the public. Experienced JBF shoppers will tell you it’s 100% worth the ticket price to shop early, which means you get the best selection and the best deals!

How often does this sale happen?

The sale only happens 2-3 times a year. You can’t afford to miss it!

What kinds of items will be at the sale?

Anything for kids & baby! Clothing & shoes sizes newborn to teen and maternity. Baby gear (strollers, car seats, swings, highchairs, bouncers – you name it!), nursery furniture, indoor & outdoor toys, books, games, feeding & bathing items, bedding, room decor, sports equipment, electronics, costumes and so much more at prices up to 50-90% off retail!

Do I need a ticket to shop?

JBF is not your everyday shopping trip. It's your once-a-season chance to stock up on everything your growing kids need for the next six months. With so many families making the smart choice to save $$$ during the JBF sale, we use tickets to manage flow during each day of the event. Grab tickets for you and a friend today!

How can I shop earlier?

Get in on our Early Access shopping days by purchasing a ticket or claiming a ticket to one of our free community presales. Don't forget, Sellers shop early!

What can I buy?

Shoppers stock up on everything their growing kids need at our twice-a-year HUGE events plus our annual holiday event in November. Find great deals on children’s clothing, shoes, gear (strollers, car seats, swings, highchairs, bouncers - you name it!), kids furniture, indoor & outdoor toys, books, games, feeding & bathing items, bedding, room decor, sports equipment, electronics, costumes and so much more at prices up to 50-90% off retail!

Can I sell my kid stuff?

Yes! JBF is the BEST way to turn kid clutter into cash - hundreds of shoppers see your items all at once (way better than selling one piece at a time)! You earn 65% on your sold items, you choose prices, and you price & prep your items. Short on time? No problem! We offer Valet Tagger (we tag, you get paid). Learn more by logging in!

Are you hiring?

There are many ways to be more involved in this amazing community event! Registered Sellers are encouraged to help at the sale (learn more after signing up!). We also hire seasonal help (pay starts at $12.50/hr). Applications open July 15.
